IELTS Speaking Part 2: How to Start Your Talk

IELTS Speaking Test consists of two parts and IELTS Speaking Part 2 requires you to speak on a topic shared with you. The extempore speech needs to last for about 1-2. Ensure that you use strong words and sentences in the introduction. Your IELTS coach will help you prepare for this.

Quick Tips for IELTS Gurgaon Speaking Test Part 2

  • The examiner will give you a topic. Remember that you will be judged on how well you speak and not on how factual your speech is.
  • You will have a minute to prepare your talk and a minute to speak . Collect your thoughts and note down the key words to use. Paraphrase the question shared.
  • For instance, the topic can be: “Describe your favourite food”. Your talk should cover:
    • What kind of dish it is
    • Where did you come across it for the first time
    • How do you normally enjoy having it – with friends/ family/ alone/ at home/ in a restaurant, etc.
    • Can you prepare it?
    • A restaurant that specializes in it, or a family member who has mastered cooking it
  • Just start talking naturally as if you were talking to someone you know.
  • Remember that once you get the beginning right, your words and ideas will automatically fall in place.
